Castile and Leon, SpainCathedral construction was begun in 1221 by King Ferdinand and Bishop St. Don Mauricio and was finally consecrated in 1260. Later it was extended and embellished with a monastery and several chapels, including the famous Chapel of Constables (sec. 15), Chapel of St. Thecla (18th century), ornaments on the facade (c. 15) and the splendid dome (sec. 16).
